Deodorant and antiperspirant from German brands

A deodorant works on odour by limiting odour-causing bacteria. An antiperspirant also reduces how much you sweat, using aluminium salts that temporarily narrow the sweat duct. Choose a deodorant if odour is the issue and an antiperspirant if wetness is. Formats are spray, roll-on, stick, cream and aluminium-free options. The current packaging is always the binding source.

This category covers the full deodorant range from German drugstore brands in one place, sorted by format and by what each type actually does. Everything is dispatched from Germany.

Formats in this category

  • Spray: dries fast and feels light, the usual choice for daily use and for travel in cabin-sized cans.
  • Roll-on: applies a measured film, tends to last longer than spray and produces no aerosol.
  • Stick: dry application with no wet feeling, convenient before dressing.
  • Antiperspirant: reduces sweat volume as well as odour, available across all three formats.
  • Cream and paste: higher concentration in a small tub, often chosen for sensitive underarms.
  • Aluminium-free: works on odour only, for anyone who prefers to avoid aluminium salts.

How to choose and how to apply

Start with the problem, not the format. If shirts smell but stay dry, a deodorant is enough. If you get visible wetness, an antiperspirant is the product that addresses it. The format then comes down to preference: spray for speed, roll-on for longevity, stick for a dry finish.

Application timing matters more than most people expect. Antiperspirants work best applied to clean, dry skin in the evening, because sweat production is lowest overnight and the active has time to settle. Reapplying in the morning is optional. If your skin reacts, try an aluminium-free or fragrance-free version and read the directions and warnings on the pack.

Deodorant questions

Spray, roll-on or stick, which lasts longest?

Roll-on and stick generally last longer than spray because they leave more product on the skin. Spray dries fastest and feels lightest. Longevity depends more on whether the product is an antiperspirant than on the format itself.

Why do my white shirts go yellow under the arms?

Yellowing comes from aluminium salts in antiperspirants reacting with sweat and fabric over time. Applying less product, letting it dry fully before dressing, or switching to an aluminium-free deodorant all reduce it.

When is the best time to apply an antiperspirant?

In the evening, on clean and dry skin. Sweat production drops overnight, so the active has time to work. You can still apply again in the morning, but the evening application is what makes the difference.

Are aluminium-free deodorants as effective?

They are as effective against odour, but they do not reduce the amount of sweat, because that is what the aluminium salts do. If wetness rather than smell is the problem, an aluminium-free product will not solve it.

Can I use deodorant straight after shaving?

Better to wait. Freshly shaved skin is more reactive, so alcohol-based sprays often sting. Shave in the evening and apply the next morning, or choose a fragrance-free version for sensitive skin.
