Laktoosi (maitosokeri) esiintyy monissa elintarvikkeissa. Laktoosi-intoleranssissa elämänlaatu ja nauttiminen heikkenevät, koska sulamaton laktoosi aiheuttaa ruoansulatusvaivoja, kuten lisääntynyttä kaasun muodostusta ja turvotusta mahalaukussa ja suolistossa. Keho ei pysty hyödyntämään laktoosia ravinnosta, koska seeltä puuttuu entsyymi laktaasi. 1 tabletti (18 000 FCC) otetaan välittömästi ennen (mutta ei tyhjään vatsaan) tai maitotuotteita sisältävän aterian aikana riittävän nestemäärän kanssa. Annos on säädettävä yksilöllisesti. Se riippuu laktoosi-intoleranssin asteesta ja aterian laktoosipitoisuudesta.
